Restorative Justice Ministries
WHO WE ARE
Our Mission:
We exist to communicate the transforming power and unconditional love of God through Jesus Christ to those touched by the criminal justice system. We provide appropriate spiritual resources to anyone as needed. Matthew 25:36.
Who we are:
Restorative Justice Ministries of the Brazos Valley (RJMBV) is a not-for-profit, 501 c(3), faith based, non-denominational Christian-based jail ministry to inmates and staff of the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in the Bryan-College Station, TX region. RJM partners with BCSO, through an agreement, to provide Chaplaincy and spiritual support to the inmates and staff of the Brazos County Detention Center (BCDC), located at1835 Sandy Point Road, Bryan, TX 77802.
We are Board directed and volunteer based.
What we do:
RJM provides Bibles, Chaplaincy Services, Counseling, Bible Studies, Church Services and Life Skill classes to inmates.
How we do it:
This ministry is done through 70+ volunteers, a Chaplain, a Board of Directors and a small office staff. We are supported by donations of money, in-kind services and materials, and a stipend from Brazos County.
-
Friends and volunteers of RJM lead worship services, teach Bible studies and Life Skills classes, provide mentoring services, and offer practical help to inmates.
-
Of the 11,000 to 12,000 inmates per year, approximately 3,500 request a Bible and/or other spiritual literature, all of them donated by churches and prison ministries.
-
Life Skills classes are intended to help the inmate in different life areas when they reenter society. Examples of life skills classes are: Anger Management, Parenting, Personal Finance and Careers and Job Goals, among others.
